What's the kulay please?

Sometimes we tend to forget most of the Filipino words when we used to live abroad for a long time since we need to speak the universal languange to communicate. I just realized it when my co-teacher Ate Zeny asked in one of our get together party if what is the color of brown in tagalog? I responded in no ease "kayumanggi!," to my surprise she was so delighted that I still remember it. Well, she's been living here in Bahrain for almost 20 years where she started her family. She said that she tried to search in the internet and asked everyone she knows, she should have been called me. It's one of the homework from Philiipine School here.

I am writing this blog not to boast that Im the only one who knew it in our group but also serves as my reference in case I tend to forget it too. Here are some of the colors translated in Filipino.

brown- kayumanggi, red- pula, yellow- dilaw, pink- rosas, blue- bughaw,
orange- kahel (source:my husband), green- berde o luntian, violet- ube,
black- itim, gray- abo..

Famous videoke songs...

Here are the lyrics of the famous videoke songs that my family sang on my happiest birthday so far. It was really funny and I've learned to appreciate this thru their own versions, giving them more than two thumbs up! If I were able to record them maybe you'll agree with me. Kudos to the original singers!

NAMUMURO KA NA
Lukas

**I carefully listen to the music to have its lyrics. I thought it was serious song but its really funny and more ANDRES can relate.hahaha

SIGAW NG PUSO
Father & Sons
Mahal tandaan mo lahat ng sasabihin ko..
Naniniwala ako na tunay ang pag-ibg mo
Huwag lang pansinin ang nasa paligid mo
Isipin mong ika'y minamahal ko

Panga ko sa iyo hinding-hindi magbabago
Mahal iwaksi mo pangambang puso mo
Wala ng mahalaga kundi ikaw lamang giliw
Tanging ikaw lamang ang buhay ko

CHORUS:
Kahit ano pa ang nakaraan mo
Walang sinuman ang makapagbabago
Tapat ang pagmamahal ko
Sayo giliw ko

Kahit ano pa ang sabihin nila
Hindi ito hadlang sa hangarin ko
Wagas na pag ibig
Sigaw ng puso ko

Pag-ibig ko sa iyo ay ipaglalaban ko
Hindi mahalaga na magdusa ako
Ang tanging pangarap ko
Ang pag-ibig mo giliw
Ikaw palagi ang sigaw ng puso ko

Kahit ano pa ang nakaraan mo
Walang sinuman ang makapagbabago
Tapat ang pagmamahal ko
Sayo giliw ko

**My uncle sang this with his Batangas accent that makes us go crazy!ahahaha

O JO KALUGURAN DAKA
Ara Muna

Tinatong kung mahal kita,at bakit nagkahiwalay.
Sa puso ko’y di matanggap, pagkat mahal kita.
Ako’y nanalangin na makapiling ka
Ang ibig kong sabihin lahat ay gagawin ko.

Chorus
O Jo kaluguran daka.
Kaluguran sobra-sobra.
Kasara da reng mata pantunan daka
Lawen daka angga king mate ku,
uling ika ing lulugud kaku.

**I heard this several times thru our neighborhood whenever they rented a videoke. I love to sing this song because my voice fit it and I got a high score.lol

Wedding Day Musician

During our three weeks stay in the Phils, we never thought that we need a musician since it is not really necessary but I want our wedding to be more intimate and romantic. And as a bride I want to have a grandiose or probably a dramatic entrance that will tug my heart. :) And for that three weeks I know that we can’t find one whom you’ll entrusted for our big day. I consider two things: EXPERTISE and BUDGET FRIENDLY. I’ve read that it is much better to hear them playing personally to make sure they are the one whose playing the sample music but it is no longer possible. . .

My spare time was spent through browsing the wedding directories and sends my queries to potential persons/group. Until I found Augustine Music and Sounds… their experience in Kuwait appeals me much maybe because were currently in the Middle East country and its plays a big part of my considerations I guess. I get a response faster than I expected from Tito Mar. We discussed the details thru email and phone calls. Rates are a bit higher since it is out of town wedding but its fits our budget. What I really like about them is they had all that I need from coordinators to singer/emcee. I’ve meet Tita Mel (coordinator) once for the details of the wedding.

I asked for TRIO (violin, bass, and piano),singer/emcee, and a day coordinator.. My guest was pleased because the program was coordinated properly, very professional, and nice persons I’ve met. I deeply appreciated these kind of people that treat you like your own family and who makes my day really special. You may contact Tito Mar/ Tita Mel at 9300621, ,09173520410, 09167978019 (mel.)

TWILIGHT GAGA

It's so funny that I have no idea what a TWILIGHT movie is all about. Curiosity.. because I've seen the premiere night in TV PATROL WORLD and I asked my cousin what is it? Tsktsk..what a busy life I've had in Bahrain that I am not familiar with this. I am not fond of reading thick books if not of my interests.Well, I just finished reading Stephenie Meyer's TWILIGHT VAMPIRE LOVE SAGA since I go GAGA when me and my husband watched it in ROB Metroeast. I'm thankful that his nephew already had these four books where he generously lent it to me. I'm also thankful that my husband put it on our luggage so that I could finish reading them when we get back here in Bahrain.

I love how Stephenie plays with my heart pounding imagination as I read each page, I can't help but to turn to another page. I like BREAKING DAWN the most. A happy ending that I expected to be which satisfies me because I don’t like tragic endings.

I should have been bought the Twilight’s movie soundtrack and books as weelwhen we were in the Phils. Because its nowhere to be found here. I want to buy via amazon.com but decided to wait till I get back to the Phils on March. hahaha

Bridesmaid No More

I can’t remember how many times I’ve been a bridesmaid or maid of honor to a friends and relatives. It’s exactly like Claudine Baretto’s movie “Got to believe” that she is waiting for God’s gift to be with for the rest of your life.

Well, well, well.. I am saying goodbye to this fantasy because I will finally tie knots to my long time Intramuros day’s boyfriend. And when you get excited you wouldn’t know where to start.

Here I am sharing my wedding planning itinerary.

Pamamanhikan- where my boyfriend’s family met my family to talk about the some details especially the date of the wedding.

Church( St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish Church, San Jose, batangas)- for registration, checks the availability of the said date, and wedding seminar as well.

Reception- Blueroze Farms. Venue needs for reservation as well since I don’t go for the Traditional Batangas Wedding wherein the reception took place at bride's residence and commonly celebrates for three days.

Photo and Videographer- Ariel Javelosa Photography

Florist & Make Up- While having our first seminar, the catechist itself is a florist as part of her sideline. There’s no need to find a make up artist since Tita Miles of Miles Salon will take care of my beauty on that day.

Wedding Gown- Mariventi

Wedding entourage gown- In Batangas, there are so called “1st rent use,” which means I’ll choose the design and fabric to be used but the price is cheaper since after the said event you have to gave it back. Thanks to Nanay Gloria of Glendale Collection in Ibaan, Batangas.

Souvenir- Papemelroti

Musician- Augustine Music and Sounds

Cakes and Invitations (Paperflair by Adworksgrfx) - c/o my beautiful Sister-in-laws Ate Ruby & Ne

Bridal Car- c/o Ate Ruby’s Pajero

**This blog was made before I left Bahrain last Novemeber 2006 for our wedding. Sorry I wasn't able to post it...

All Saints Day

Most of the time the President declared holiday a day before the said dates but not this year since it falls on weekend. All Saints day, November 1, is where we commemorate the feast of the dead “Araw ng mga Patay” and continues until the next day “All Souls Day.” Just about this holiday took place, my grandmother is really busy in the cemetery looking for someone who will paint the niche, and cut the grasses grown besides the tomb (pagtatabas.)

“Pangangaluwa” is also part of the tradition wherein my co-barangay’s formed a group that divided into Teenager, and Senior Citizen and go door to door, barangay to barangay. And if you are member of the barangay official or you are a BALIKBAYAN, it is traditionally expected that you’ll give more money J. All the money collected was saved for BARANGAY FIESTA budget.

For me, this no longer a “mourning stage,” but more of the reunion because this is the time that the family & far away relatives gathered to offer prayer, flowers, lit candles for our loved ones, sharing stories, meeting old school friends( crushes as well), and FOODS.

In year 2000 is the most tragic All Saints Day for me. It is when I was involved in a vehicular accident. I am working in a call center that time and since we have no holiday, I have no choice but to travel on November 1. I hurried to TRITRAN buendia terminal and I always sit in front as I’d love to watch the driver on how to control the clutch, break, and gas. He drives fast and just when we passed the Sto. Tomas bridge, I already knew that we are about to mash on a STAREX van in front of us. Due to its impact, the van turned around three times. The bus ran against the meralco tower, I just close my eyes and hold carefully when I saw a huge wood that about to hit the front mirror. People help us to get out from the bus by putting ladder infront of the broken mirror. Few minutes later ambulance took those injured passenger. Thanks God nothing is fatal and nothing happened to me. When I was waiting for my grandmother to arrived to pick me from the accident area, an old lady told me that I shouldn’t travel during the All Saints Day since spirits of dead people are out. Myth or Fact. Nothing to lose if you believe though.

No Audio Output Device Installed

My husband upgraded the system software. The next day when I use it ( HP Pavillion dv2000,) the sounds is not working when I tried to play WINAMP. I have noticed too that the sound icon next to the clock (bottom right hand corner) had a red cross and a message that says "No Audio Output Device installed."
The following are the steps that we did to let it work again. No need to install a new software etc..

From the Start menu> Go to Control Panel> Device Manager > Under Sound, video and game conrollers I have found Conexant High Definition Audio> Right click Update driver software> Browse my computer driver software> Just continue next until VOILA! It works again.
